Mad City Money Competition:
Cardinal Community Credit Union is sponsoring Mad City MoneyCompetition on April 18 at Lakeland College. Teams of 6 students can compete for $3,000 in scholarships. Competition is not unlike the game of "Life". Stop by Guidance for more info. During the game, students take on the role of an adult in a futuristic Mad City. They're given jobs, income, family and debt. The challenge? Visit merchants to select housing, transportation, food, necssities clothing, etc, while building a budget. Interested students can search Youtube and Google for news stories pertaining to this nationwide competition. No special skills are necessary. Teams of 6 must pay a single $20 deposit to enter, but that is refunded in full at the event.
Cleveland Clinic Summer Volunteer Program:
The Cleveland Clinic is recruiting high school students (minimum age 15) for summer volunteering in their Junior Ambassador Program. Submit an interest form at: www.clevelandclinic.org/volunteer More info in Guidance A114. Duties would include greeting patients/visitors, providing escorts, wheelchair escorts, deliver flowers, reading/assisting with crafts. Must commit to 75 hours over 6 of the 8 week session (6/15/15-8/7/15). Minimum gpa 3.0
U.S. Service Academy Seminars:
If you are considering applying to one of the U.S. Military Service Academies, you are invited to attend an informational seminar on Sat. April 25 at the Horizon Science Academy, 6000 South Marginal Rd, Cleve. from 10am-2pm. Call 800-205-6446.
University Hospitals Summer Volunteer Program:
University Hospitals is looking for volunteers aged 15 to graduation for various positions within the medical center. Applications can be found in the Guidance Office, room A114, or online at: www.uhhospitals.org/case/volunteer. Deadline: May 15 Volunteers are needed in clerical/reception, pediatric activity cart, gift shop, pediatric outpatient, child life actiities, pianist, wheelchair recovery, skilled nursing (elderly), Sideman Cancer Center activity cart and hospitality cart.
Lakeland/Holden University Center Partnership Fair:
There will be a Partnership Fair at the Holden Center at Lakeland Community College, April 7 from 4-7. Attending the Holden Center is a convenient way to earn your bachelor's or graduate degree right here in Lake County. Info at: lakelandcc.edu/uc
Do you have questions about college loans? LEAF will hold two sessions to discuss how to fill the gap between your financial aid and the college bill. How to apply for loans and what type of loans are available to a student and family. These sessions will be 4/22 at 6:30pm or 4/29 at 6:30 pm. Both sessions will have the same information and be held at the LEAF Resource Center located at 8221 Auburn Rd, Concord, OH. Registration required at www.leaf-ohio.org or 440-358-8045.

**Save the date** Buffet dinner at Harry Buffalo (2119 Mentor Ave) on Saturday, May 2, from 2-4pm to support MHS girls Lacrosse teams. Dinner includes pork sliders, boneless chicken wings, pizza, salad, fries and a variety of bottomless beverages all for $25/ticket.
