All students in grades 9-12 are eligible to submit essays to the Profiles in Courage Essay Contest. Essays of up to 1000 words must describe an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official during or after 1956. Info in Guidance, room A114. Winners will be chosen from the essays submitted by students for across the United States. Deadline is January 6.
Engineer for a Day Shadowing Program (Cleveland State University):
CSU is sponsoring their Engineer for a Day Shadowing program on Feb. 26, 2016. Students interested in a career in Engineering will spend the day with an engineer to learn about an engineering field that interests you. Info in Guidance A114. LEAF will hold a free Scholarship Session for Seniors and their parents to provide you with tips on how to find and apply for college scholarships. It will be held on Wed, Nov 18th, 2015 at 6:30 PM. at the LEAF Resource Center, 8221 Auburn Road in Concord. The session will be repeated on Wed, Dec. 2nd , 2015 at 6:30 PM. Juniors and Seniors interested in leadership and service, the Youth United Way of Lake County is looking for student volunteers. Over the course of six sessions (January to April) students from school districts across Lake County will work together to allocate real money to different agencies in the county that will positively impact our community. Interested students should see their counselor right away. The deadline to apply is December 1st.
