April 23, 2008

At the general meeting we thanked everyone for their participation in Harvest for Hunger and it was very successful. Meet the candidate day will be on May 5th for juniors and sophomores. Powder-puff will be on May 9th and there will be sign-ups all next week along with the raffle for the prom ticket and parking space. The assembly will be on May 2nd and there is a committee meeting today after school. Five people will be needed to help set up and at the meeting they will discuss the games for clash of the classes. As far as lettering goes, we will have the letters within the next few weeks.

March 19, 2008

At the general meeting we discussed the upcoming Bloodmobile. Because of the snow day we had a chance to get more people to donate. Harvest for Hunger will be April 10th and 11th. Teachers will be competing and Mr. Spiccia will be donating lunch to first place and breakfast to second place. The assembly will be tied into Harvest for Hunger and there will be a trophy presentation at it. April 2nd will be the next committee meeting. Youth and Government Day applications are available for all juniors. The PTA night for the upcoming 9th and 10th graders will be on April 9th and 10th from 7-9p.m. Student Government will have a tri-fold there and officers will be there to talk to students. Elections will be on May 6 for next year. Leadership Lake County?s deadline is April 1st. It is every Wednesday and is for sophomores to learn history of sites and take part in a service project called SS Kids.

February 13, 2008

At the general meeting we discussed the March 5th Bloodmobile. There will be meetings every Tuesday and advertising will start soon. Science Olympiad needs volunteers to help show guests on Saturday around the school from 6:30-6:45. We also discussed the April 4th Harvest for Hunger. There will also be meetings every Tuesday and ideas are needed. Everyone filled out the lettering survey on the sheet that was handed out. Those that wish to letter may need to buy their own later on in the year. Everyone updated their 1-2 classes and we received a thank you letter from the Salvation Army for everything we collected.

January 23, 2008

At the general meeting we discussed the 80's theme for the next bloodmobile. There will be future meetings soon regarding that. There will be a meeting tomorrow after school to make decorations and the dj will unload at 7:45 on Friday. There is a pep assembly meeting after school to assign jobs. Snow king court will be picked soon. The pep assembly will be during 1-2 on February 15th.

Update: The assembly will go on, but SG is not sponsoring it.

January 9, 2008

At the general meeting we talked about how there will be no powder-puff meeting until it gets closer to May. There will be a meeting after school today for the pep assembly to talk about jobs. The casual dance after the basketball game on January 25th is being planned and there will be a meeting on January 10th for the committee. The food update was that things can not be changed right now due to the contracts and a dislike of price increases from the parents and students.

December 12, 2007

At the general meeting we first talked about the Salvation Army Food Drive. We have three big boxes of food and we have three days left. The raffle for United Way is going on today. People that are sitting at the table need to get the box from Mrs. Waltz’s room before the mod, and return it when they are done. Workers are assigned for the next week. One ticket is $5 and five tickets are $6. Coats for Kids ends on Friday and we have over 40 coats so far. New initiatives are the winter assembly, powder-puff game, and things Lauren and Lindsey suggested.

November 28, 2007

At the general meeting out first topic was the past Bloodmobile. It went great with a total of 169 pints of blood. Our goal was 175 pints. Coats for Kids will be the week of December 13th. Posters will be made and big boxes needed to be wrapped in wrapping paper. The Salvation Army food drive will be December 3-14. Specific food items will be collected in English classrooms. There will be a committee meeting Thursday after school. We are looking to fill five more slots for the Richmond Heights visit. We will leave after 3-4 on December 5th. United way raffle with the lap top will be December 12-19. Tickets will be in the student center during lunch mods.

November 14, 2007

At the general meeting we talked about United Way. We have made $1,500 which is $500 less than our goal. After Thanksgiving we will be raffling off a lap top and gift cards to make the rest of our goal. Bloodmobile is Friday so encourage people to sign up. Tomorrow after school there will be people walking around decorating and hanging signs up. We also need more people to work. A powder-puff game will happen in spring before Prom. Everyone who is interested signed up. We will go to Richmond Heights on December 5th as a follow up for them visiting Mentor. The co-chairs for Salvation Army and Coats for Kids need to talk to Mr. Couch or Mrs. Waltz by the end of the week.
