Think of this as a free calendar...except with more words and without the fancy boxes. And only covering one week instead of 52.

Running All Week
Salvation Army Food Drive runs all this week in English classes. Anyone who is able to help collect food can meet us outside the SG Office (next to the security booth) right after school. Please encourage your classes to donate! Remember: although the Salvation Army Retail locations may accept old, used items, we prefer that you bring fresh, unused food for this drive.

Bloodmobile Donor Registration runs through Thursday during lunch mods in the Student Center. Must be 17 years old, 110 pounds, and have photo ID in order to donate. Red Cross is raffling of 5 free tickets to a Cavs game this March AND we're trying to beat Lake Catholic in percentage of eligible students who donate. Help us cage the Cougars and score a victory for the Red Cross!

Wed Nov 19
Bloodmobile Committee - jobs and other info for Bloodmobile Day will be discussed. We'll also finish some decorations. 2:30pm in F-102.
Conferences - Night #1 of parent-teacher conferences (or as I refer to it, "chaos"). Not a SG event, but still worth mentioning. 5:30pm to 8:30pm at MHS.

Thur Nov 20
Bloodmobile Registration Ends - last day for donors to register for Bloodmobile.
Bloodmobile Decoration Committee - decorating the Fine Arts Center. 2:30pm in F-102.

Fri Nov 21
Bloodmobile Day - 6:00am to 2:00pm in FAC.
Salvation Army Drive - last day for collections.

Miscellaneous Updates
T-shirts should be ready after Thanksgiving break. Watch your e-mail inbox for more info in the coming days. Any last minute orders...you have until 12:45 Monday to turn in form and $10 - because at exactly 12:45 we're depositing the money and making the group order.

You'll see this is a very busy week for Student Government.  Here's what we've got on deck:

Mon Nov 3rd

  • Absolutely nothing

Tues Nov 4th

  • Absolutely nothing

  • No School (while you and/or your parents elect America's next president)

  • Get in the political spirit...tune into CNN or FOX or CNBC and host a victory party!

Wed Nov 5th

  • Bloodmobile Committee (sign-up for jobs...this is the meeting to attend if you want to miss class on Bloodmobile day AND help the Red Cross - something we call a "win-win")

  • Due date for t-shirt order forms/money extended...now due by 2:30pm NEXT Wednesday, Nov 12th.

Thur Nov 6th - Fri Nov 7th

  • Absolutely nothing

And if you're looking for something to keep you busy this week, the fine men and women of our local, state, and national government offer free public schooling everyday from 7:22am to 2:26pm.  Stop by 6477 Center Street, Mentor, Ohio or call 440-974-5300 for more information on this wonderful opportunity.

Other reminders and notes:

  • Thanks to everyone who helped throw together our pep assembly Friday.  The administrators were all very happy with it.  A definite success!!

  • United Way has officially ended.  We're still finishing counting money from Friday's collection...school total and winning classes should be announced this week on the morning announcements.  Thanks to everyone who helped!

  • Due to technical difficulties (which is code for "I screwed up") - payment and order forms for Student Government t-shirts have been extended one week.  They are now due by 2:30pm on Wednesday, November 12th, but we encourage you to turn everything in ASAP.

  • We only have one General Meeting this month: Wednesday, November 12th at 7:00am in A-Lec.  You're welcome.

This info is also available at our website: www.mentorhigh.com/sg.  Check out our interactive calendar while you're there - scientists agree, "it's very nifty."

And your complimentary tip-of-the-week: Halloween is over so candy = really cheap this week/next week.  Go stock up.

Things you can attend, free of charge, this week:

Wed Oct 29
  • Bloodmobile Committee @ 2:30 in F-101
  • Chick-fil-a Night from 5-8pm at the new store by Target - not a Student Gov event...but 10% of sales go to MHS (I think they're giving 5% to Tennis and 5% to Spirit Club).

Fri Oct 31
  • Fall Pep Assembly --- great fun, free entertainment, good times! We're having a Halloween costume contest at the assembly, so dress accordingly if you want to win. And please, get over the lame "go as yourself" and "you don't need a mask" jokes. We can all agree, those got old in 3rd grade.

And of course, school is still offered ("required") daily, completely free of charge to you.

Other reminders:
  • Please remind your 3-4 class: this is the last week for the United Way drive. We're about 1/2 way to our goal of $3000. "woahhh, we're halfway there...woahhh, livin' united"
  • Check your inbox: we'll be e-mailing t-shirt order forms by Wednesday. No printer? No problem! They'll also be available for pick-up in room F-102 and the SGOV office Thursday morning.

Have a great week, Happy Halloween, Go Cards, etc.
