Mission Statement

PRIDE is Mentor High School's gay-straight alliance. PRIDE meetings are places where straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning students are all welcomed and accepted for who they are. PRIDE provides a place where all students-regardless of their sexual identity-are allowed and encouraged to be comfortable with themselves and open about their identities, regardless of where they are in their life journey. PRIDE activities focus on building relationships and understanding through discussion and getting to know individuals. PRIDE also organizes and participates in activities that promote tolerance, acceptance, and diversity. The group focuses on the experiences of individuals; however, societal issues are addressed also because individual experiences always take place in the context of "societies." These include all societies-those of school classrooms, Mentor High School, Ohio, America, and the world. The group meets on Wednesday's, from 2:30 - 3:30, in A-lecture. Feel free to join us. Feel free to contact Ms. Gomori, Mr. Montgomery or any PRIDE member for more information.
