The Mentor High School has three orchestras: Concert, Symphony and Mannheim.

Concert Orchestra is only made up of violins, violas, cellos, and basses.

Symphony Orchestra is made up of both winds and strings and is for more advanced players.

Mannhiem Orchestra is a selective orchestra which one needs to audition into. It is also an extracurricular activity with a summer camp over the summer to introduce the musicians to music and each other.

As you may well know, school orchestra programs in Lake County are disappearing, or at the least diminishing, particularly in the elementary schools. The Mentor Orchestra Association (MOA) is the parent organization responsible for raising funds so that our children can fully participate in rewarding extracurricular activities, have matching uniforms, challenging music, summer camp, etc. Fund-raising has been the primary activity of this organization and in the past included candy sales, reverse raffles, customized mosaic instruments auctioned, and concession stand volunteering at the Q and Blossom, but due to the economy fundraising has become more of a challenge.
