Future Leaders will meet Friday at 7am in C digilab. We welcome new members and invite you to come check us out.


World Travelers

Bonjour! If you will be a Mentor High student in grades 9-12 during the 2019-2020 school year and are interested in having dinner at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, seeing the Mona Lisa at the Louvre, and visiting a chocolate factory in Switzerland then join the World Travelers for an informational meeting this Thursday, March 21st from 7-7:30 at the Paradigm. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Ambrus or Mrs. Toot.


Movie Club

Mentor Movie Club is back! Pick up a form in front of room F107 for dates and information. Students must have a signed permission slip in order to watch the movies screened. First screening is next week!


Cooking Club

Attention Cooking Club members: It's Easter candy time! Are next meeting will be Tuesday, March 26th, after school. Please sign up outside of room D-105 by Monday if you are attending.


Student Government

The feed Lake County food drive is starting and student government is very excited to work with you yet again for this great cause. So every teacher is going to be competing against each other for this fundraiser. The students who have the winning teacher will receive a donut party. Each student who brings in 3 or more canned food items will receive a raffle ticket for prizes that will be announced each day on the morning announcements starting Thursday.

Want to help out your community in a positive way and win a gift card? Leadership Lake County will be selling Stars to Shine for $1 during the week of March 18-22. These stars will be hung up during the Deepwood Prom for students with disabilities that Leadership Lake County is hosting. Each star gets you one raffle ticket, so come make this event even more special!

The MHS PTSA is now accepting applications for the 2019 Homecoming Student Chairperson. Applications are available through schoology or infinite campus or by emailing mentorhspts@gmail.com and are due no later than March 18th. This is for current 9th, 10th and 11th grade students. Thank you!

Hey Cardinal fans! This is a friendly reminder that the spirit store is now in the Bookstore. Staff, students and community members are able to shop during the day. We are open 7:20- 2:00 daily. The bookstore does close for lunch 12:00-1:00. We currently have new items including: crew neck sweatshirts and red and black plaid pajama pants! Come by and check us out. All money raised goes towards instructional materials and vocational programming for students with special needs.


Student Government

Mentor High School students are conducting a clothing drive during this week to donate to the Cardinal Closet and Salvation Army. Please donate gently used items of clothing to help those who are less fortunate. Collections will be held in rooms B101 and B103 all week. Any contributions will help.

Any student interested in becoming a counselor for 6th grade camp next year please log on to schoology, follow the camp counselor application link and complete the application. For next year 6th Grade camp will be held at Camp Fitch in early September. Please read the information in the application for complete details.

Congratulations to the Mentor High School Black History Month Writing Contest Winners: 1st Place: Hailey Hunter, 2nd Place: Briana Williams, and 3rd Place: James Ferro. You will be called to the office in the next few weeks to receive your prizes.

Mentor High School is excited to announce that we will be continuing our internship partnership with Lake Health for the 2019-2020 school and also expanding our internship opportunities with two additional fields in Community Relationships and Broadcasting Video Production. The 2019-2020 internship applications are available at the link below and hard copies can be located in the CTE Office. Please note that applications are due March 22nd. Internships are available to any current junior and the duration of each will be one semester. Students will still have the opportunity to participate in Senior Project. Internships are for credit and may be taken as an honors course. Please see your counselor for additional information.


Guidance

The Armed Services Vocational Ability Test (ASVAB) will be given on Friday March 22 at 7:30am in the Fine Arts Center lobby. The ASVAB can be used to help you take a look at career options, 2 and 4-year colleges, ROTC, military academies, military service and vocational training. Sign up in the Guidance Office, room A114.


Junior Women's Club of Mentor is looking for dependable teen aides for Safety Town. There are 2 week-long sessions starting June 3. If interested, stop by the Guidance Office, room A114, to get an application. Or go to www.mentorjuniorwomen.org
