Softball: November 16, 2017

SOFTBALL: If you have not picked up your winterball t-shirt yet, please see Coach Forgione after 13/14 and before 15/16 sometime this week.

Football: November 11, 2017

The Mentor Cardinals continued their playoff quest with a joyful victory over the St. Edward's Eagles 21-13. The win moves them to the Regional Final game next week against the St. Ignatius Wildcats. The Cardinals (11-1) didn't score much in this game as it was the defense who came up big contributing the win. Down 10-0 after the first quarter, the Card came back to score two TD's in the second quarter. Elijah McDougal ran an 8 yard score followed by a Tadas Tatarunas pass to Logan Shea for a 13 yard TD. The 3rd quarter saw no scoring from either team leading to a final score by the Cards on a Chris Edmond score of 2 yards. The Mentor defense held the Eagles to only 13 points in the game. But the telltale stat was the Cardinal defense holding St. Ed's to 2-13 on 3rd down attempts. In a game where Mentor was held to only half the normal points they score on offense, the defense deserves the shout out for their outstanding effort!!! Join us next week for a rematch against the St. Ignatius Wildcats (12-0) on Friday, November 17th at a site to be determined. The Wildcats beat the Cards for their only loss this season 41-31 on September 1st. GO CARDS!

Intramurals: November 8, 2017

ATTN Students: If you are interested in intramural bowling, please get your team information to Mrs. Johnson or Mrs. Hart ASAP. Intramural bowling will take place on December 5th, 7th, 12th and 14th at Game of Mentor from 3-4pm with more dates to follow in January and February. Lane and shoe rental is $6 per visit. You must provide your own transportation.

Football: November 4, 2017

The Mentor Cardinals hosted a first round playoff game at the JTO and recorded a solid 49-17 victory over the Stow Bulldogs. Mentor started the scoring with a Tada Tatarunas to Logan Shea 20 yard score. After Stow scored the next 10 points, the Cards turned on the jets to outscore the Bulldogs 42-7 the rest of the way. Those scores were a Tatarunas 1 yard TD, 3 more TD tosses to Shea, a Chris Edmond 11 yard score and an Elijah McDougal 17 yard TD run. Conor McIntosh was perfect on the night with 7 extra points. The defense held Stow scoreless in the second half! The Cards will play the St. Edward's Eagles next Friday at a site to be determined. Stay tuned for more information. Go Cards!

Boys FRedBasketball: November 2, 2017

Attention freshmen boys planning on trying out for basketball. IF you do not have a current physical on file at Mentor High School or your Final Forms completed DO NOT show up Saturday at tryouts. You must have these forms complete or you cannot step on the court.

Wrestling: October 31, 2017

On Wed., Nov.1st, there will be a meeting in the wrestling room at 2:30 pm for anyone interested in wrestling or stating this year. If you attended Mondays mtg. you do not need to attend this one.

Football: October 28, 2017

The Mentor Football Cardinals traveled out west to visit the Elyria Pioneers and came away with a solid 55-6 victory in their final regular season game. The chilly air and rain didn't stop the Cardinal Express. Mentor (9-1) has now averaged 47 points per game for the season! The scoring came from both the offense and defense this evening starting with an Elijah McDougal 26 yard TD run. Conor McIntosh followed with two field goals of 30 and 35 yards. James Pedley ran a 59 yard fumble return for a Cardinal defensive TD. Chris Edmond added to the scoring with his own 12 yard TD run. Steve Baird collected a Tadas Tatarunas 28 yard TD strike followed by another Mentor fumble recovery for a score. This time it was Mike Brey who ran a 50 yard return for that defensive score. Luke Floria and Ian Kipp both ran for scores of 20 and 5 yards respectively. McIntosh added 5 extra points while Sophie Kaplan and Maegan Baranski each kicked an XP of their own. Onto the playoffs!!! Stay tuned for the opponent next Friday as the Cards kick off their 2017 playoff run at home at the JTO! Make sure you get your tickets early! GO CARDS!

Football: October 21, 2017

The Mentor Cardinals hosted the Euclid Panthers at the JTO and came away with a thrilling 61-59 victory on a last second, 35 yard field goal by Conor McIntosh. The victory moves the Cards up to an 8-1 record which clinched a home playoff game per www.joeeitel.com. Rather than share the 8 Cardinal TD details, take a look at all the numbers from the game. The Cards amassed 743 total yards to Euclid's 701 ! ... Mentor had 33 first downs on the evening to Euclid's 24 ! ... The Cardinals averaged 10.8 yards per play to Euclid's 10.5 ! ... In 215 games since we started using the laptop in 2000, this was the most total points in any Mentor game! ... Tadas Tatarunas threw for 423 yards ! ... Elijah McDougal ran for 148 yards along with Chris Edmond 's 136 yards !
