Hockey: March 1, 2013
Congratulations to Andrew Cannata, Nikita Goldman, and Garret Graehling for being selected by the all league and all division coaches to play in the GCHSHL Red Division All Star Team on Sunday at the Q. The Red Division All Stars will be playing the White Division All Stars at 1:30 prior to the Monsters game vs the Rochester Americans. Tickets can be purchased for $15 (normally $30 for Monsters Game ONLY) which will allow you to see the Blue Division All Star Game beginning at 12 Noon, the Red Division all Star Game at 1:30 and the Monsters game at 4 pm! Congratulations to the Mentor High School Hockey Team for winning their game 7 to 1 against Orange in the 2nd Round of the State Tournament! Goals were scored by Ryan Posipanka (2), Andrew Cannata (2), Jimmy Wallette, Nikita Goldman, and Brady Kloss. Connor Brittain did an amazing job as goaltender. The next game will be at Kent State University at 6 pm on Friday, February 22nd against Shaker Heights. Come out to support the Cards!

The Mentor High School Hockey Team will play Orange High School in the State Tournament on Saturday, February 16th. The puck drops at 1 pm at Kent State University. We invite all students and fans to KSU and to wear red to support our Cards at the State Tournament!

The Varsity hockey team had a huge victory against North Olmstead on Friday night with a final score of 7-0! It was a great shut-out in net by Tommy Kozlovich! Mentor goals were scored by Anthony Blank (2), Jacob Fisher (2), Nick Kirschner (2) and Nick Goldman (1). Thanks to all who have donated toys to our Toys for Tots drive. We will still be collecting toys at the drop boxes in the civic center until Dec. 22.

Come out and cheer on the varsity hockey team tonight, Friday, Dec. 17 at 6pm as they face North Olmstead. There will be free prizes at the door for the first 100 people. Kids wearing their Mentor Youth hockey jerseys get in free. Don't forget to bring your new unwrapped toys for our Toys for Tots drive. So come out and support your Mentor Cardinals!

The Varsity hockey team played two hard fought games this past weekend. Friday night Mentor played Rocky River. Despite their hard work, the final score was 5-3 in favor of Rocky River. Mentor goals were scored by Brandon Tackett, Caleb Fisher, and Matt Madison. In net Tommy Kozlovich made 23 great saves. On Saturday, Mentor played Elyria Catholic in thier unbelievably cold outdoor rink. It was a hard fought game, but Mentor was unable to pull out a victory with a final score of 5-3. Two Mentor goals were scored by Anthony Blank and one by Walt Nebelski. Once again Tommy Kozlovich worked hard to defend the net. Don't forget to come out on Friday night and cheer on the Varsity hockey team as they vs. North Olmstead at 6pm. Please continue to bring your new unwrapped toys to the high school or civic center drop boxes for our Toys for Tots drive, and provide some Christmas cheer for a child this year. Thanks for all the donations so far and keep them coming!

Mentor High Hockey welcomes all Mentor Youth Hockey Players to our game Friday Night December 10th at 6 pm. Prior to the game, all youth players are invited to join the team at our bench to receive certificates of recognition as well as meet the players after the game for autographs. We will have team photos available. Wear your jersey and get your own picture taken with players from the team! Don't forget that after all Mentor High Varsity Games there is an open skate where the youth players can skate with the Mentor High Team! Come early to receive your Mentor High Hockey rally towel! The Varsity Hockey team will take on Rocky River this Friday, Dec. 10, at 6pm. It's Youth Night, and all Mentor Youth players wearing their jerseys will get in free. The game is sponsored by Cutting Tools, LLC. The first 100 people through the doors will receive a free rally towel. There will be coloring activities and other fun activities for the kids. Don't forget to continue to bring new unwrapped toys for our Toys for Tots drive. So come on and check out this exciting, fast paced game and cheer on your Mentor Cardinals.

The Varsity hockey team kicked off their season last Friday with a home game vs. Holy Name. Although they fought hard, they lost with a final score of 6-3. Mentor goals were scored by Andrew Cannata, Jacob Fisher and Cory Vinborg. Sharing the net, Connor Brittain and Tommy Kozlovic made 29 great saves. The team's Toys for Tots toy drive got underway with the captains from both Mentor and Holy Name presenting retired marine SGTMAJ. Jim Bowen with huge bags of toys. Please continue to donate new unwrapped toys at home games through Dec. 17 and at the Civic Center through Dec. 22.
