I was born and raised in Wooster, Ohio. In 1989 I graduated from Triway High School. I am a graduate of Bowling Green State University. While at BG, I majored in comprehensive science with a minor in earth science. I was a four year letter winner in cross country while at Bowling Green, as well as, a three year participant in track. After graduating from Bowling Green I taught physical science for a half of a year at Elyria High School as a long term sub. Then in August of 1994 I was hired by the Mentor School District. I am currently teaching both honors and regular biology. I am also the head girls cross country and track coach. In 1996 I married my wife Melissa in Findlay, Ohio and she is currently working as a Speech and Language Pathologist for Geauga County schools. In 1998 I graduated from Ashland University with a masters of curriculum and instruction. The new millennium brought around exciting changes with the birth of our first child, Kent Michael Butler. The family was increases again in 2002 with the birth of our daughter Brooke Ashley. My hobbies include running and in 1996 I competed in the 100th Boston Marathon. I also enjoy golfing, camping and hiking.
