The Lake County Central YMCA at 933 Mentor Ave. in Painesville will be holding a Teen Night this Saturday, January 10 from 9pm- Midnight. The event is open to all youth ages 13-18 at no cost to YMCA members and $5 for non-members. The feature event is a 3 on 3 basketball tournament scheduled to begin at 10pm. The event will also feature open gym activities, swimming, video games, game room, free food and a lot more! Doors close at 9:30 so be sure to get there early. Seniors, bring $10 this week Wed., Thurs., or Fri. to guarantee that you'll receive your senior class T-Shirt! You may pre-order during lunch mods in the Student Center or with Allison Griffin or Lindsey Solden.
Attention all Students with talent! NHS will be having a talent show on March 4th. Auditions for the talent show will be on January 15th at 2:30 in A-Lecture, so get your act together and be there! Contact Mrs. Stuckey in room B-102 with any question.
Attention Sophomores and Juniors: Be one of 60 students chosen to participate in a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will help you decide if a career in business is right for you. LAB is a week-long program that will be held in June in the campus of Lake Erie College. LAB participants will form teams and "run" a business. You'll learn real-world business principles and network with dozens of top area business professionals and compete with other teams for awards. Applications are available in the guidance office, room A-19.
Attention Sophomores interested in applying for the Cosmetology program. The deadline to apply is February 14th. See Mrs. Clements in the CTE Bldg or your counselor for more information. Open House will be held at Brush on February 3rd. Flyers available in A19 also.
Science Olympiad News:
Good luck to our 3 Science Olympiad teams as they compete this weekend at Northmont. This year we are the largest ever with 49 members. Go Cards!
Mock Trial teams are to meet today at 5:00 at the courthouse. Go through city hall and wait in the lobby to be let into the courthouse.
It is again time for all students that have CTE Physical Education forms to turn them in to their Career Technical Educational Program Instructor, their Unit Office or to Mr. Len Taylor. These forms are due by Friday, January 14, 2009.

Attention sophomores and juniors interested in careers in healthcare: The Cleveland Clinic is offering summer internships in which students will work alongside Cleveland Clinic healthcare professionals on meaningful research projects in real-life work environments such as, science, nursing, medical laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, respiratory therapy. These internships are structured, 9-week paid learning experiences. Students can earn PSEO college credit through Kent State University. Stop by the guidance office for more info.
If you did not get a chance to order your Senior Graduation Announcements and accessories, you can pick up a late order brochure in the 12th grade office. Please pick up these brochures ASAP to be sure you don't miss out on these important items. Also if yo did not attend the Senior Meeting to order your Cap and Gown please stop at the 12th grade unit office ASAP to fill out an order form.
