Homecoming Information
The Mentor High Spirit Club is sponsoring a community pep rally/bonfire on Thursday October 6th at 8:00pm at Cardinal Stadium. All fall athletes will be honored, the homecoming court will be presented and the queen will be crowned. Immediately following the ceremony a bonfire will be lit and a D. J. will play music for everyone's enjoyment. This is a community event open to all members of the Mentor community. Come help us cheer on the Cardinals. Let's get them pumped for the Friday night game against Cleveland Heights. This event will take the place of the usual Friday morning assembly.

Katrina Aid
Future Leaders is promoting Friday bake sales. They hope that various groups will take every Friday through the end of the school year. Family and Consumer Sciences will actually have their bake sale on Thursday Oct 13.

Future Leaders has also ordered boxes of Malley's chocolate bars to aid the devastation that Katrina has caused. Boxes are $36.00 and are available from Mrs. Stuckey. Bars will also be sold in the student center and at home football games.

Ms Pollak and Ms. Scharf are collecting school supplies(notebook paper, binders, folders, spiral notebooks, pencils, pens, backpacks, foreign language dictionaries, locks for lockers and/or other nw or gently used supplies). Students may bring them in to their classroom teacher. The supplies will be sent to schools who have taken in refugees from katrina.

Please help in our efforts to aid the people effected by Katrina.

CardinalFootball
The Mentor Cardinal football team played a good game but came up short 31-10 to the Massillon Tigers. The score was not indicative of the effort the team put on the field. Being down 17-0 at half, the Cardinals drove down the field to start the second half with a 22 yard field goal by Igor Iveljic. The Cardinal defense held Massillon to get the ball right back. Mentor was at the Massillon 5 yard line when an unfortunate turnover changed the momentum. Kellen Oleksak was 13 of 24 for 83 yards on the evening. Bill Deitman lead all Cardinal rushers with 72 yards on 14 carries while Brandon James led the receivers with 6 catches for 48 yards. Bart Tanski scored the only Cardinal touchdown on a 27 yard run in the 4th quarter. Join us again next week as the Cards travel to Lakewood to start their LEL schedule. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. on September 30th. See you there and GO CARDS!
