Cardinal Football Romps the Rangers
Friday the 13th proved to be a lucky night for the Cardinals as they scored quickly and often in defeating the Lakewood Rangers 56-7. Mentor scored 56 straight points before giving up a Lakewood TD in the 3rd quarter. Our scoring started with a Bill Deitmen 1 yard run. Then, Bart Tanski threw a 36 yard TD to Tyler Schutz followed by a Tanski 6 yard scamper for a TD. Deitmen then ran a 12 yard touchdown. All of this occurred in the first quarter for a 28-0 lead. Deitmen ran for his 3rd touchdown (52 yards) on the 1st play in the second quarter. Tanski hit Schutz again for a 19 yard score. Jon Dzingleski got involved with the scoring on his 29 yard TD run. Finally, Josh Weaver caught a 22 yard touchdown from Anthony Fracci. Kevin Harper had 7 of the extra points while Mike Skilton added the final extra point. STAT OF THE NIGHT: Mentor scored the final 15 points against Lakewood in their 2004 game. Mentor then beat Lakewood in 2005 by the score of 41-0.
