In a game that ended after two periods, due the 10 goal "mercy rule", Mentor beat an out-manned Solon High School squad by a 11-1 score. The Cards were paced by dual hat-tricks. One by Senior C Brandon Jeric and the other by Freshman F Brady DeMell. Jeric also had three assists and Senior D/F Greg Godic had two.
ICERS FACE OFF AGAINST HUDSON. AGAIN !!!
In a game with huge implications AGAIN, Mentor High takes on Hudson in a Sectional Final this Friday night at Kent State University Ice Arena. Face-off is set for 7:30PM.
With a win, the Cardinals will meet the winner of the Shaker Heights vs Mayfield Sectional Final, in a first round District match. That game will be on Tuesday, February 24th at Kent State. Face-off will be at 7:30PM.
This year the Cardinals and Hudson have put on some much talked about hockey performances. Mentor won a 4-3 thriller in OT on Hudsons home ice in December, and then held on to clinch a share of the Red Southeast crown with a 6-4 win in the last game of the regular season back on January 30th.
Hudson (18-10-0) features one of the areas top scorers in Chris Hourigan. The Junior F has 38 goals/34 assists and is the schools all-time leading scorer with over 160 points and still a year to play. 15 of his goals this year have come on power plays. Mentor enters at a school best 24-8-1 on the season.
