Cardinal Power:Mentor Defeats Glenville Tarblooders
The Football Cardinals started the season off with an exciting game ending field goal while defeating Glenville 15-13. Kevin Harper kicked the 22 yard game winner with 16.4 seconds left in the 4th quarter to give coach Trivisonno and the Cardinals a reason to celebrate wildly on the field ... and in the stands. These were not the normal stands as the celebration took place at Cleveland Browns stadium! The final drive started with only 2:50 left and 80 yards in front of the Cardinals. Bart Tanski threw for 39 yards on the drive and ran for 6 yards. Bill Deitman ran for 30 yard during the drive to take the Cardinals down to the 5 yard line for Kevin Harper's field goal. Earlier in the game, Tanski hit Tyler Schutz for a 33 yard score. Tanski followed this up with a perfectly placed 24 yard strike to Brandon James. Tanski finished the game going 16 of 32 for 193 yards and 2 TD's. Brandon James led all receivers with 6 catches for 72 yards. Bill Deitman had 13 carries for 54 yards. Join us next Friday night as the Cardinals take on Strongsville. It's a short drive to the west side of Cleveland so let's join the team and support the Cardinals as they take on the Mustangs. GO CARDS!
