Cardinal Playoff Push
The Football Cardinals plowed through the Glenville Tarblooders 29-19 to win the Region 1, Division 1 semi-final game at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The win advances the 11-1 Cards into the Regional Final next week against Warren Harding who upset St. Ed's 7-3 (Day, Time & Location to be determined). After Glenville scored on the opening drive, Bart Tanski hit Tyler Schutz with a 13 yard TD to tie the score at 7-7. Glenville scored half way through the 2nd quarter followed by a Kevin Harper 24 yard field goal. Mentor pulled off an on-sides kick and the entire direction of the game changed. Bill Deitmen ran for a 2 yard score followed by a second Tanski TD toss for 35 yards to Brandon James. Tanski then hit Steve Orkis for a 45 yard TD for the final Cardinal score. STAT OF THE GAME: The Cards are now 2-0 at Cleveland Browns Stadium this year while the Browns are 1-3 at home !!! (Credit to coach Triv for pointing this out). The Regional Final is now in store the the Cards. Come join us next Friday Let's pack the stands as we did during the 2003 Regional Final. GO CARDS!
