The Mentor Cardinals ended their 2015 campaign with a loss to the St. Edwards Eagles 34-10. The Cards end the season at 8-4 with many exciting memories. After St. Ed's got off to a quick start taking the lead 13-0, Alex Mathews ran a 22 yard score for the Cards. Cal Tommasone then kicked a 24 yard Field Goal heading into halftime down 13-10. The Cardinal defense prevented the Eagles from scoring for over 30 straight minutes of game time but the Eagles found their grove in the 4th quarter scoring 3 times. Alex Mathews ended the game for the Cardinals with 23 carries for 149 yards. It's been a fun season and there are many reasons to look forward to the coming years. GO CARDS!

The Mentor Cardinals invited the Canton GlenOak Golden Eagles to the JTO for the first round of the playoffs. The Cards got off to a quick start and never let up by defeating GlenOak 41-13. Jason Blizzard ran for an 8 yard score followed by an Alex Matthews 14 yard TD giving the home team a 14-0 lead. GlenOak scored next followed by 3 more Mentor scores. The first of those scores came on another Mathews TD romp of 7 yards. That was followed by another Tatarunas to Blizzard 19 yard score on a 4th and 5 play. Mathews then ran for his 3rd score on the evening giving the Cards a 34-6 lead after 3 quarters. Both teams exchanged scores in the final quarter with Mentor scoring on another Tatarunas to Blizzard rope for 19 yards. Cal Tommasone hit 5 extra points on the evening. The Cards take on the St. Edwards Eagles next Saturday. Stay tuned to the local media for the time and place. GO CARDS!!!!!
