The Mentor Cardinal football season ended at the state semi-final level with a 62-34 loss to the Toledo Whitmer Panthers. The 12-2 Cardinals had a fantastic season including many of the following statistical highlights ... Mitch Trubisky completed 264 for 393 passes this season for a total of 4065 yards including 42 TD passes while also leading the team in rushing TD's with 18 ... Conner Krizancic led the team with receptions (79) for 1144 yards and 12 TD's ... Brandon Fritts led the team in receiving yards (1244) with 73 catches and 17 TD's ... Nick Delisa was the team's leading rusher with 876 yards on 110 carries while also scoring the most points this season (126) ... Mike Muzic had a perfect FG season going 7 for 7 while adding 75 extra points ... Lashaun Moore averaged 26.6 yards for every kickoff return ... Jaylen Dowdy led the team with 3 interceptions this year ... Mentor averaged 46 points per game ... The offense averaged 503 total yards per game ... Mentor threw for a total of 4216 yards this season which was twice the yardage thrown by the opponents (2090 yds). Thanks to the entire team for creating a memorable season which will never be forgotten and will be discussed many years from now. GO CARDS!

The following will be the sale times for football tickets for Mentor's State Semi-Final football game vs. Toledo Whitmer at Mansfield Arlin Stadium on Saturday 11/24 at 7pm.Tickets are $8 presale and $10 at the gate.

What a game! What a season!! The Mentor Cardinals pulled off an amazing triple overtime victory over the St. Ignatius Wildcats 57-56. Just when you thought last week was a game for the ages, along comes another amazing finish as the Cards went for a 2 point conversion in the 3rd overtime to take the win. Mentor started the scoring quickly with a Conner Krizancic to Corey Plavcan 46 yard TD along with 2 Mike Muzic field goals taking a 13-0 lead after one quarter. The Cards kept the lead going into halftime 20-14 with a Trubisky to Brandon Fritts 10 yard TD. St. Ignatius held the lead after the 3rd quarter 21-20 but then came the final stanza when both team put up 2 scores with Mentor converting a 2 point conversion to send the game in overtime! Both teams scored a TD in all 3 OT's but Mentor decided to go for another 2 point conversion in the 3rd overtime. The win or lose, one play, hold your breath 2 point conversion unfolded with Trubisky hitting Fritts for the fantastic finish. The Mentor side of the stands erupted as the Cards took down another highly ranked powerhouse. Onto the final 4 and the state semi-final game next week vs. Toledo Whitmer. The site is TBD. The Mentor Cardinals pulled off one of their biggest victories of all time as they stunned the St. Edwards Eagles 63-56 at Byers Field in Parma. The Cards mounted an unbelievable comeback from 21 points down with 5:44 left in the 3rd quarter. The defense stood firm for the remainder of the game and the juggernaut offense kept on rolling to score the final 28 points to claim the victory. Amazing statistics ... Mitch Trubisky: 36 of 48 for 476 yards including 2 TD passes while also rushing for 2 TD's ... Brandon Fritts: 14 catches for 242 yards and 4 TD's ... Nick Delisa: 16 carries for 136 yards and 2 rushing TD's ... Mentor Defense: After giving up 474 yards to St. Ed's through 3 quarters, they shut down the Eagles in the 4th quarter for only 58 yards. ... Mentor's only lead in the game was with 33 seconds left in the game! ... Mentor racked up 726 yards of total offense !!! Join the team next week when they meet the St. Ignatius Wildcats in the regional final (site to be announced shortly). Whew ... that was a lasting memory. GO CARDS!

The Mentor Cardinals put their engine in playoff gear and cruised to a convincing 45-35 victory over the Warren Harding Raiders. The scoring started when Mitch Trubisky hit Corey Plavcan for a 37 yard score. Trubisky then connected with Nick Delisa for a 52 yard TD. Trubisky kept his foot on the accelerator by hitting Brandon Fritts for 63 yards followed by 2 more TD's to Delisa to end the half leading 32-14. Trubisky started the second half scoring with a 19 yard TD run. Mike Muzic kicked 2 field goals to end the Cardinal scoring on the evening. The 10-1 Cardinals will now take on the St. Edwards Eagles next Saturday at a site to be determined. Stay tuned for details on the location and GO CARDS!

On a rainy, teary eyed evening paying tribute to #28 Billy Deitman, the Mentor Cardinal football team (past and present) showed up in masses to watch the Cards tame the Twinsburg Tigers 41-0. The Cardinals end the regular season at 9-1 and all signs look positive for a home playoff game next week. Mitch Trubisky started the scoring with a 3 yard TD run. Nick Delisa then scored the next 2 TD's with runs of 62 yards and 1 yard upping the halftime score to 20-0. Trubisky then hit Brandon Fritts on a 2 yard TD strike followed by 2 more Delisa scores of 30 and 6 yards leading to the final of 41-0. Interesting that although on the Twinsburg side of the ball, the Tigers ran the football 28 times for a negative 28 yards. Congrats to the Cardinal defense for stopping the Tiger ground game and for creating a statistic keeping Billy in our hearts. Stay tuned for the playoff game details and GO CARDS!

The Mentor Cardinals turned on the scoring machine again by defeating the Strongsville Mustangs 54-7. The win raises the Cards record to 8-1 heading into the regular season finale next week at home. The game started off with a bang when LaShaun Moore took the opening kickoff 84 yards for a score. 1 minute later, Mitch Trubisky threw a TD pass to Corey Plavcan. 1 minute and 20 seconds later, Nick Delisa ran a 2 yard score. It was 21-0 with only 2:40 of game time having come off the clock. Trubisky then ran an 8 yard score ending the first quarter at 28-0 and being perfect in the process by connecting on 10 for 10 passes for 200 yrds.. Mike Muzic kicked a 33 yard FG followed by a Terrance Walton II pick six with his 25 yard interception. Just before half, Trubisky connected with Conner Krizancic for a 17 yard TD making it 45-0 heading into the locker room. The second half started with Muzic kicking his second field goal on the evening (34 yards) followed by a Kade McClure to Moore 16 yard TD strike. Last week, the Mentor Cardinals doubled up on the score of their opponent. This week, they tripled their opponent's score! The Cardinals brought their "A" game tonight while all Medina could do was show their "Bee" game in a 63-21 Cardinal victory. The Cards (now 7-1) gained a total of 560 yards on offense while only giving up 151 total yards on defense. The game was over by halftime with the Cards in the locker room holding a 49-7 lead. Scoring in the first half came from Mitch Trubisky on a 19 yard run, two Conner Krizancic TD rushes of 64 yards and 1 yard along with a 4 yard TD catch, a Nick Delisa 6 yard TD scamper and a 70 yard TD reception, and finally a Matt Schaefer 11 yard TD run. The second half scores came on an Eddie Daugherty 2 yard run and a Casey Kraft 3 yard run. Mike Muzic was perfect again with 9 extra points! Tickets for this Friday's football game at Medina High School will be on sale in the Athletic office Tuesday through Friday from 8am to 3pm. Adult tickets are $6 and student tickets are $4. All tickets are $6 at the gate. All seating is general admission.
