HOMEOWRK/INCLASS WORK/MAKEUP WORK
- Find out what you missed in class after being absent.
- Only an excused absence will be allowed to makeup work.
- If excused absence, days to complete missed assignments equals days missed.
- if unexcused absence or Out-of-School Suspension-will take a “0” for missed work.
- Past due assignments result in lower points/grade.
- Do your own work. There is plenty of time to get the work done during class if you are making good use of class time. Students who are cheating will lose all assignment points in addition to receiving further disciplinary action.
- Names must be printed, not written on all printouts.
CLASSROOM
- No food permitted in the classroom.
- Beverages should not be placed on your desk near the computers.
- Stay in your seat until the class is dismissed. At the end of the class period you will be expected to push your chair underneath your desk before you leave. Thanks!!
- Please do not change desktop format.
- Use care with the computers. Abuse of any kind to the computers or within the room will result in loss of points and disciplinary action.
- These computers are paid for by your parents’ tax dollars. Please report any computer problems to me ASAP including desktop changes.
BEHAVIOR
- Be on time for class. You are allowed to be tardy to class 3 times.
- Be quiet and listen when I or anyone else is speaking. Please do not key at your computer when a presentation is being made. Show common courtesy!
- Do not mess with anyone else’s computer.
- No headphones in class. Cell phones off.
- No downloading games/music.
- No E-Mail or check of E-Mail during class.
- Be aware of Acceptable Use Policy.
- Ask to use the restroom only in emergencies.
- Continue on with class as normal when there is a substitute. Stay in your assigned seat.
- Any discipline problems will be handled when I return to school. If your name appears on a list from the sub for misbehavior, you can expect a detention. Be courteous and show respect or our substitutes. They are guests in our building.
- Any acts of classroom disruption that go beyond the normal rights of students to question and discuss with instructors the educational process relative to subject content will not be tolerated, in accordance with the Code of Conduct described in the student Handbook.
GRADES
- School Grading Scale will be used: 90-100%= A; 80-89%= B; 70-79%= C; 60-69%= D
- Grades are based on the point system. Students points divided by total points possible.
- Grades will be based on class work, homework, projects, production work, tests, and quizzes.
- Participation points for each grading period. Any behavior problems and computer violations will result in deductions form you points total. Deductions include: unexcused tardy, talking violations, disrespect violations, behavior violations, removal from class violations, and other internet/games violations. Violations can also result in your parents being notified.
- You cannot fail both the second nine weeks and the final exam and pass the course.
- Attention seniors: This class does count for graduation.
MATERIALS
- Textbook-Discovering Computers: Fundamentals, Second Edition by Shelly Cashman Vermaat. (ISBN: 0-7895-6372-X)
- 3-Ring binders with pockets.
- Notebook paper and a writing tool everyday in class.
- Your own flash drive.
