There will be a few
questions that ask you to analyze a map of NATO and Warsaw Pact countries.
There are three short,
one-paragraph essays on the test.
Each essay is 5-points, and there will be a 5-point grammar and spelling grade.
Essay 1: What is the different between the 1950’s family as shown on television versus the reality of how people felt and acted? (Think about “Nick at Night” shows, Pleasantville, “Dinner Date with your Family,” and The Feminine Mystique.)
Essay 2: After watching The Atomic Café, Chernobyl Heart, and Trinity: Atomic Bomb Movie and reading “What if a Bomb Hit Home,” describe in one paragraph the effects of nuclear war. What are the types of destruction? What are the effects of radiation?
Essay 3: This essay will involve a poem or song written about a major 1950’s event or issue that we’ve studied. You will need to circle lines or lyrics that relate to what we’ve studied, and explain how it relates.
