1998-1999 Mentor Top 25 Show Choir

Top 25 is under the direction of Dr. Keith E. Touchton, district music supervisor. He received his
Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from Mississippi College, Clinton, Mississippi in 1982.
He received his Master of Music degree Church Music, from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft.
Worth, Texas in 1985. He received his Decorate from the University of Mississippi, Oxford Mississippi
in L997 in Music Theory Pedagogy where he studied under Dr. Jerry Jordan. He has conducted choirs across
the country and his choirs have received top honors in national and international competitions.
He has conducted choirs in Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center and has directed Mass at St. Peter's Basilica
in Vatican City. He is currently the music director for Mentor United Methodist Church.
Assistant Director, Mrs. Amy Bender has taught music in the Mentor schools for sixteen years.
She received a Bachelor of Education from Baldwin Wallace College in 1981, and a Master of Education
with an emphasis in guidance and counseling, in 1994, from John Carroll University. Mrs. Bender is an
accomplished pianist and has worked with many Mentor choirs, instrumentalists and vocalists in our schools
and at church as an expert accompanist. She is currently working at both Headlands and Center Street
schools. She is organist and bell choir director at Mentor United Methodist Church.
Michael Weaver is a filmaker/choreographer based in San Francisco. He has staged numerous
productions from musical theatre, showchoir, film and video, corporate industrials and cabaret
throughout the United States. Mr. Weaver holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Commercial Music from
Millikin University and is a former music conductor for Carnival Cruise Lines. He holds a Master
of Fine Arts degree in Film Directing from Columbia College Chicago and dance training from Purdue
University, the Gus Giordano Studio, and Lou Conte Studio in Chicago. He is currently President
of Show Design Inc. in San Francisco where he oversees development of prepackaged multi-media and
live show programs and choreography publishing. Show Design Inc. (SDI) has workedin various
capacities with Epcot at Walt Disney World Florida and Universal Studios Theme Park. SDI was
recently a finalist for staging the 1999 Summer Special Olympics opening and closing ceremonies in
Durham, NC.. Michael currently serves as interim Executive Director of the National Association of
ShowChoirs and as an adjudicator and clinician for a number of national performance workshops and
venues.
