About us
The Mentor Top 25 Show Choir is a select group of students from the music department at
Mentor High School. The Top 25 show choir was founded in 1965, and is now in its 46th year of performances
serving Lake County and the northeastern areas of Ohio. They are directed by Mr. Dan Call, assisted by Mrs.
Laurie Eppler, and choreographed by Marlene Leber.
The group performs regularly for community events, schools, church organizations, banquets, business
meetings, and festivals in northeast Ohio. Performance tours in the United States have included travel
to major cities on the east coast, west coast, and in between. They have traveled to Canada, Mexico, and
many European countries, including Scandinavia, England, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland,
Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic. They have been the featured performers on two performance
cruises in the Caribbean.
In competitions, the Top 25 has taken many awards from choreography to soloists.
In 2004, the group was recognized as one of the top 30 competing show choirs in America. The group took first
place with superior ratings in the Gateway Festival in Honolulu, Hawaii. They were presented the flag that
was flown on the USS Missouri for their tribute performance in Pearl Harbor.
In 2008, they traveled to Arizona, performing on the rim of the Grand Canyon and sharing music with the Navajo Indians.
Last year, the group took their music to Boston. There, they performed for locals while singing in historical venues, and
achieved the high honor of receiving the Esprit De Corps Award, in addition to the choral award, and 1st place
show choir award in the Festivals of Music Competition.
The group was also invited to sing the National Anthem at
Progressive Field last spring for the Cleveland Indians and will again this year on May 22nd, 2010.
Fox 8 & Q104 Radio have selected our group from over 100 other nominations, to participate as one of 8
area show choirs in their “GLEEvland Rocks” competition on May 5th.
To conclude last year’s season, the Top 25 traveled to San Francisco for their performance tour.
The Top 25 is proud to continue the tradition of being musical ambassadors of Mentor, representing our
school and community with pride and excellence.
