About us

The Mentor Top 25 Show Choir is a select group of students from the music department at Mentor High School. The Top 25 show choir was founded in 1965, and is now in its 43rd year of performances serving Lake County and the northeastern areas of Ohio. They are directed by Ms. Laurel Kunes, assisted by Mrs. Laurie Eppler, and choreographed by Lauren McNiel and Marylin Young.

The group performs regularly for community events, schools, church organizations, banquets, business meetings, and festivals in northeast Ohio. Performance tours in the United States have included travel to major cities on the east coast, west coast, and in between. They have traveled to Canada, Mexico, and many European countries, including Scandinavia, England, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic. They have been the featured performers on two performance cruises in the Caribbean.

In competitions, the Top 25 has taken many awards from choreography to soloists. In 2004, the group was recognized as one of the top 30 competing show choirs in America. The group took first place with superior ratings in the Gateway Festival in Honolulu, Hawaii. They were presented the flag that was flown on the USS Missouri for their tribute performance in Pearl Harbor. Last year, they travelled to Arizona, performing on the rim of the Grand Canyon & sharing music with the Navajo Indians.

This year, they will take their “Rockin’ America” show to Boston, where they will compete with other show choirs from around the country and perform at other local venues.

The Top 25 is proud to continue the tradition of being ambassadors of Mentor and represent our school and community with pride and excellence.
